The origins of Skateboarding

Skateboarding has become a phenomenon since the 1950's to the present day and still day is. The first skateboard was kind of like a scooter and once they broke off the push bar was broken off and that was the birth of skateboarding. At the time in the 1950’s the was a surfing craze that was sweeping the nation and that when people started to realized skateboarding could recreate the feeling of riding a wave. People feel in love and by 1959 the first Roller Derby Skateboard was for sale.

By the 1960’s companies like as Larry Stevenson's Makaha and Hobie Alter's Hobie began to produce the first true surfing-inspired skateboards and like that skateboarding became very popular almost overnight and so these companies couldn’t keep up with the demand but more skateboarding companies like what we know them as know DC, alien workshop and plan B came in the picture and so fifty million skateboards were sold within a three year period during the 60’s and like a snap of a finger skateboarding became unsafe and so skateboarding fad died as quickly as it had started.

By the 1970’s, Larry Stevenson invented the kicktail, and the first generation of skateboarders laid down the foundation of tricks and style, which like an act of magic brought skateboarding back on it’s feet. In 1973 the urethane wheel was invented, and provided much better traction and speed and, combined with new skateboard specific trucks, allowed skaters to push the difficulty of maneuvers to new levels and with that brought the first really big names being Tony Alva, Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta skateboarding legends.

By the 1980, there was a large growth stage whish saw the construction of numerous concrete skate parks, a rank of professional skaters, magazines and movies. And size of board was changing.

Skateboarding has changed through out the years but till this day it’s still a phenomenon and still rages on.

Wellness, Health, and Fitness

Well it’s very important to have wellness in your life. Although I don’t know the definition but I found a brilliant quote by Charles B. Corbin of Arizona State University that say “Wellness is a multidimensional state of being describing the existence of positive health in an individual as exemplified by quality of life and a sense of well-being.” It brings peace of mind and harmony to your life and health is the most important aspect in everyone’s life. Every one needs a good diet and to get plenty of exercise which relates a lot with Fitness. Fitness means Good health or physical condition, especially as the result of exercise and proper nutrition. And now days to many Americans health is not a aspect and most Americans don’t really keep track of their health. These three terms are very important but without balance are useless. Balance is the ability to maintain a specific body positions in either a stationary or dynamic situation.
Here are a couple of them that are very useful when try to balance wellness, health and fitness.

Balance is the ability to maintain a specific body positions in either a stationary or dynamic (moving) situation.
Coordination is the ability to use all body parts together to produce smooth and fluid motion.
Agility is the ability to change direction quickly.
Reaction time is the time required to respond to a specific stimulus.
Speed is the ability to move rapidly. Speed is also known as velocity (rate of motion).
Power is the product of strength and speed. Power is also known as explosive strength.
Mental capability is the ability to concentrate during exercise to improve training effects as well as the ability to relax and enjoy the psychological benefits of activity (endorphins).

Social health-The ability to interact well with people and the environment and to have satisfying personal relationships.
Mental health-The ability to learn and grow intellectually. Life experiences as well as more formal structures (e.g., school) enhance mental health.
Emotional health-The ability to control emotions so that you feel comfortable expressing them and can express them appropriately.
Spiritual health-A belief in some unifying force. It varies from person to person but has the concept of faith at its core.

Tyler Haws

Tyler Haws

His story is very inspirational and his policy about practice is very inspirational as well although he had to wake up in the morning to go practice for a whole summer and practicing two hour every day before morning and he never complain but now it's paying off he has leaded his team and his school Brigham Young to the state championship so if you work hard, work smart, work together you will accomplish any goal you have and you will accomplish that with practice and hard work.
